The 2017 Winter Universiade opened on January 29th in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The 28th World University Winter Games will run for two weeks and see over 2500 student-athletes compete from 50+ countries.
The Winter Universiade takes place every two years and is organised by the FISU (International University Sports Federation). After the Olympics, it is the second largest multi-sport Games in there world.
